Nairobi-born, Adelaide-based singer, rapper and producer Elsy Wameyo has shared her new single “Sinner,” a blistering track that puts Wameyo's virtuosic MC chops on full display.
The song comes on the heels of a momentous 2023 for the rising artist.

Lyrics

The flesh is controlling her
She’s heavy but chose to remain in the dark now the demons are over her
And she knows that her heart is demanding a sacrifice, so I pray you are not close to her
Another one gone, she was the one who we trusted, somebody please pray for her

It’s not what you thought
Are you not entertained by the spirit?
The shadow’s overcome
It’s the same me, ain’t nothing different
I promise it’s good for you
I promise it’s good for you
I promise it’s good for you
I promise it’s good for you

My thoughtfulness moves at the speed of light
I fear for eternity, gaining the consciousness, yes I know how to perceive the light
Most days I predict all my coming nights
I function superior to every leader who thought I was not of a higher mind
But yes, I am always ahead of time
Sent by the future, I’m that divine
But lack all the discipline that could have led me to be at the top of humanity
Addictions that only the devil hands out, I been weak, oh if only my God could see
Hit the pinnacle, oh what a miracle, y’all are the ones that are feeding my ego
Serving cynical, know that I am the culprit of everything evil

It’s not what you thought
Are you not entertained by the spirit?
The shadow’s overcome
It’s the same me, ain’t nothing different
I promise it’s good for you
I promise it’s good for you
I promise it’s good for you
I promise it’s good for you
I know how to sit in discomfort
I know that my days have been numbered
I know not to speak up or dare to say that I am hurt, who am I to have suffered?
So now my distress is a standard
And I comply to the power
I know that it’s never in vain, so I cry all these tears just to nourish my flowers
I learnt to enjoy all the hurt and the pain when I learnt that it’s part of my sanity
‘Cause what you are hearing right now is the trauma, depression, my stress and anxiety
I laugh at the face of my agony
I suppressed all my love for humanity
‘Cause I am a product of all the misfortune of my generation entirely
So here I am the truest form
Born a sinner saint is gone
Intrusive thoughts better me, but the inner suffers silently
Dancing demons, but the demons are me
So it’s only right that I want them all to fail, human nature then add a dash of insecurity
Now all my wants and my needs overtaking the reasons, that’s a lack of maturity
Wonders, wonders of God, better pray that the universe can lead me back to my purity
I opt to do everything alone

You did this to me
Why are you surprised?
I am what you see
Demons come alive
Alive
Alive
Alive
Alive
Oh no, the dark is so invasive
She’s gone, she’s gone, the world has taken
Her to the dark, no one can save her
Oh no, she’s gone, she’s gone, they’ve taken

Mayora manyien, no chuno na alokra
